Heart of Healing IFS and Psychedelic Apprenticeship Training Program
Heal • Learn • Serve
Join a Small Cohort in Experiential Learning of
Consciousness Medicines and Healing Practices
The Heart of Healing Apprenticeship is a 12 Month Program featuring small group learning cohort and subgroup experiential retreats. Begin working with ketamine and cannabis now and be ready to work with MDMA and psilocybin as they are rescheduled and available. Ketamine and MDMA are the focus of this program.
Heart of Healing Apprenticeship is ideal for mental health professionals, therapists, coaches, spiritual directors, pastoral care clergy, medical specialists, and wellness practitioners seeking to add or enhance IFS and psychedelic knowledge and skill in their practice.
Brief Overview of Heart of Healing Apprenticeship
The Heart of Healing Apprenticeship is an IFS rooted practice model for exploring expanded states of consciousness for healing and spiritual growth. We utilize a small cohort model (12 participant maximum) to ensure that each participant receives the attention and care needed to maximize their learning and healing potential. The central feature of the apprenticeship is experiential work with medicines and their supportive practices. The goal is to begin your journey in learning how to work with these expanded states; not merely learning about them.
- We follow the wisdom of indigenous apprenticeship models of working with consciousness medicines by honoring the intention of healing before learning and learning before serving. Held within trusted community where each person is known, seen, heard, and valued as an active participant, we heal, learn, and grow together so that each of us lives with more authenticity and alignment.
- As a community, we are committed to the continuation of our personal healing, learning, and growth journey. We acknowledge that our healing contributes to the healing of our community, our personal relationships and connections, and the world. We agree to bring our own journey into the container of the community and to ultimately take responsibility for the ways we show up in offering and receiving support.
- We recognize that each medicine has their own personality and offers a unique quality for healing and full expression of our being. Medicines are not simply tools for growth; they are partners and hold valuable wisdom that they share with us. We acknowledge that each medicine requires a unique set of practices that align with the gifts offered by the medicines.
- We understand that healing is a component of spiritual growth and full expression of life. The difficulties we encounter in our life point us to areas in our life that have constricted or blocked our innate wisdom and vitality. By healing what is blocked or disrupted, we gain increased access to our true nature.
- We intention to cultivate the practices that are healing for our cultural context. While we accept wisdom from older lineages of working with consciousness medicines, we strive to do so in a way that honors the wisdom without appropriating the cultural practices. In all our practice, adopted or developed, we do so with training, right exchange, and acknowledgment.
- We do this work with humility, courage, gratitude, and equanimity.
Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to cover standard areas of competency and to provide a shared infrastructure to support the primary work of the retreats. Our standard areas of competency are in alliance with the core modules offered in similar training programs. This provides a correspondence with others as we collectively enter into creating the standards of psychedelic assisted therapy as a practice and profession.
Unique to the Heart of Healing Apprenticeship program are the paradigms that inform how we engage in this form of healing care. Central to this program is the Internal Family Systems model. IFS is distinctive as a psychotherapy model in that it includes in it’s fundamentals an altered state of consciousness practice that has the potential to evolve into a spiritual practice.
Heart of Healing centers in IFS as an initial map of the Inner World and expands this terrain to deepen into somatic, spiritual, and consciousness practices for the healing of traumatic disruptions, cultivation of vital authenticity, and the evolution of spiritual development. The expansion of the IFS model to attend to the dimensions of somatics and spirituality is essential for working with ketamine and MDMA—and other plant medicines through preparation and integration.
